APPLICATION GUIDE
Hey there! So with this post, I'm going to go step-by-step through our application and explain just what staff are looking for so we can accept it - as well as giving you a ton of other references and help, should you want to go above and beyond.
All comments are in red!
You can use various programs to crop your image to 500x300px - GIMP, Photoshop, Microsoft Office Picture Manager, etc. If you honestly can't get it cropped yourself, feel free to ask someone in the cbox if they can do it for you.
CHARACTER NAME
past names/future names
As mentioned in the rules, we're going to be a bit picky about names. However, if you fill out the "Name explanation" part below, there's far less chance of there being any problems.
Make sure to check the "Name Claim" as well! We can't have any duplicate prefixes, otherwise things will start getting confusing...
"One sentence appearance - include sex, pelt color, and eye color."
This will be used in the allegiances for clan cats - and for reference for non-clan cats.
NAME EXPLANATION:
(prefix and suffix explained for clan cats, can skip for non-clan)
Here's a bunch of naming references - some are a bit more in depth than others, but they all have some pretty good possibilities and resources:
Make Warrior Characters - Naming | Naming pt 2
The Liberal Traditional Naming Guide
Ailuronymy
THEM
Ebonycrow
AGE:
(in years/moons)
This is the exact same number system I listed in the rules, but with a little more explanation:
Make Warrior Characters - Age
RANK:
(kit, apprentice, warrior, queen, loner, rogue, kittypet)
As long as this makes sense IC and with the character's age, you should be good to go.
EXTENDED APPEARANCE:
PERSONALITY:(optional - include all the stuff you can't fit above)
I highly suggest filling this section out, even if it is listed as "optional." It gives you a much better picture of your character.
A good way to make sure you hit all the "important" parts in a character's appearance is by following along this guideline:
Make Warrior Characters - Appearance
You can also find some really interesting information about genetics and the like here:
Warriors OC Help
Note: Staff use the info at Warriors OC Help for all the Litter Apps.
AND, because body build is one of the things most often described in cliches, I found these wonderful sites for you all (and myself *cough*). They all describe the same idea, but in slightly different ways, so I'm just linking to all of them.
Messybeast
Cat Body Types
Identifying Cat Body Types
FAMILY:(more developed for older cats - either paragraph form or a list of traits)
Again, I'm going to strongly suggest you take a look at this page:
Make Warriors Characters - Personality
Now, you don't have to explain every last faucet of their personality on their app. Sometimes you don't know how a character will react to a situation until you put them into it and have to rp through it. And sometimes it's more interesting to find that kind of thing out during rp instead of trying to set it in stone now. However, we want to understand your character as much as you do, so giving us a good, solid (balanced) personality goes a long way.
Here's some good resources if you're stuck:
Not Another RPH
Character Personality Traits (pdf file)
(parents/siblings/children at least - can be changed if you plot with someone to have your characters related)
You really don't have to go all that in-depth into this part. Especially because you might run into someone who has a character that you swear could be your own character's sibling from another litter/cousin/distant relative - and you both might want to tweak your family trees a little bit to make that true. (I've done that before myself.)
HISTORY:
CBOX NAME:(does not have to be very long, especially for those that have been clan cats all their lives - include important events, ceremonies, character-shaping moments, etc.)
This can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. Anywhere from a couple paragraphs to a couple thousand words - we'll be judging the content, not the wordcount. I would personally go through all the major "sections" of your character's life - especially for clan cats. Once again, here's a really nice guide/reference:
Make Warriors Characters - History
Older characters will have more here, of course.
(what we call you)
Please, oh please, don't change this for every character you make. I've seen people do that and I really don't understand the reason behind it. Your cbox name should stay the same throughout your entire time on the site - it's how we know you're you.
HOW YOU FOUND US:
(ads, affs, google, etc.)
We just really want to know how we're drawing all you lovely people in!
OTHER CHARACTERS:
(list them)
Even though we probably know who plays who, this helps us remember just how many characters you have. While there is no limit on how many you can create, we might ask you to wait a bit if you've been making a ton in a short amount of time.
RP SAMPLE:
(first character only - must meet site minimum, can be from any character of any rp genre/site)
Alright, we just want your average post here - nothing special. The only thing we're judging here is whether or not you meet the site minimum wordcount (100 words) and have a basic grasp of grammar and writing skills. (Then again, rping helps us all improve.)
