[/blockquote]HISTORY:
[/i]'. His curious glaze would land him in trouble whenever he would go about sniffing the leader's den and later be found asking the medicine cat 'what are poppy seeds?' It was indeed amusing to many, annoying to more but heart-warming to all. Lark-kit was so distant in his own mind and world that he only acknowledged his brother once in a while, and when time came that the winter chills were only days away, Lark-kit would huddle beside his mother and brother and ask questions on why it was so cold.
He felt something akin to sorrow when in that first moon of leaf-bare a deep freeze came, his father was taken in the night, his whiskers frozen and his breath gone. He questioned why he had stopped breathing. The medicine cat took notice in the three moon old kit and decided that in those moments she would answer all the questions she could. Mousewhisper was a sweet little she-cat, a new medicine cat herself after the death of her mentor ten moons earlier. Mousewhisper welcomed the help the little kit gave, and thus Lark-kit learned of poppy seeds, marigold and even cob webs. He learned the basics, something every cat could understand quickly. It was when he awoke one morning to Coldkit having seemed chilled, did Mottledpelt push Lark-kit away.
Upset by his mother pushing him away Lark-kit spent the nearly two weeks with Mousewhisper. Mottledpelt went into the forest one morning and did not return until her fur seemed to have frozen in place, her jaws parted and everything seemed covered in ice. It was after that one moon of ice and cold that the warmth began to return. He had been left off milk, but the nursery was no longer his home. The clan would find the tom in the medicine cat's den, helping with sick cats and wounds. It wasn't long until the medicine cat took him on as her apprentice; Mousewhisper and Larkpaw became a team to be reckon with.
The first moon of training was quite intense for the little apprentice. His questions were hushed by the medicine cat whose gentle voice coached him into simply doing, reacting first, before putting logic and question to it. To many, when they first entered the medicine cat's den, they had been shocked to see the usual question-filled tom quiet, simply reacting to the injured and helping them. The moon of silence many cats whispered to each other, and they knew that some good things must come to an end. Larkpaw was eight moon officially when his questions spew from his mouth. Mousewhisper's meows of laughter could be heard for days after, when one morning Larkpaw's face got real frustrated and suddenly he started to question everything he had not gotten too.
That was the moon Larkpaw finally got to go to the Medicine Cat Meeting. Originally he was suppose to go the other two moons, but sickly cats made that nearly impossible for him to leave. Upon arriving at place name here, he felt prickles run along his spin and there his mentor spoke to Starclan about taking him on as an apprentice. Larkpaw at the end of the speech questioned why Mousewhisper needed to ask the ancestors for permission, couldn't he just choose an apprentice and be done with it? He learned that day, that many things should be left unsaid. He met Starclan that night as they welcomed him into the apprenticeship, amused by him questioning and he began to ask them questions. Simple ones of; Who are you? What clan? Was your death natural of caused? These ruffled the ancestors and with parking words they whispered; Wisely question those who you dim unworthy.' He arrived in camp to find his clan sleeping and Mousewhisper meowing that they should get a head start on the following day. He would agree, eyes floating around camp as he took the deputy his poppy seeds. The deputy, Brambleflower had pulled a muscle hunting and needed the beautiful seeds every couple hours.
This was their first ... encounter. Larkpaw had passed the poppy seeds that morning to the hurt deputy, and it was in those moments where she had grumpily replied thank you, that sparked off Larkpaw's questions. 'Shouldn't you be kinder to your medicine cat.' Thus began their playful batter, (
So his twelve moon rolled past and Larkpaw watched as the world seemed to slowly tick. His paws kneading the ground and his relationship with the deputy was growing closer and closer. He seem to always find himself with the she-cat by his side and the two would share their stories of the day. In meetings, she asked Larkpaw his opinion and he gladly announced it. However when he was fifteen moons, a small border scuffle in which he had been on the patrol sent him into a status of shock. Cats were flying at each other, and he watched at Brambleflower and a bulky cat went at it. His heart dropped when the cat was pinned down by Brambleflower and only with his yowl of no, did her leader stop. 'Larkpaw! watch out!' was her response and then Larkpaw remembered no more.
They told him later that night that Brambleflower had attacked the tom that had knocked hin out, in a fit of rage. Larkpaw worried for both the she-cat that had been attacked by Brambleflower, and the deputy herself, spotted the deputy sheepishly laying in her nest. Anger seemed to fill him as he stormed over, slightly off balance. His anger was clear as he yowled at the she-cat for blindly going after a tom he could of handled, or another cat could of handled. In the end he landed in a heap by the she-cat, curled up tight to her whispering worries to her. That was how the two found themselves in love with the other.
Two moons later Larkpaw earned his full warrior name of Larksong.
Brambleflower stepped down at deputy to become an elder.
A moon after that, at the nice age of twenty-seven moons Brambleflower - an elder now - started to give him mini training lessons. The basics of how to fight and how to hunt in case the clan needed every member. Mousewhisper was annoyed her apprentice had vanished at odd hours of the day and night. This continued for many moons, until the day that Brambleflower suggested kits. Larksong; knowing the Warrior's Code refused, and in a fit of anger, did not realize it was her heat cycle and Brambleflower became impregnated by a tom, but force. Larksong was hurt of course, but he could not come to truly hate the she-cat who was not in full mind at what was going on. So at thirty-nine moons old, Larksong stood proudly as a father-figure to five brilliant kits. Dappledkit, Lilykit, Rock-kit, Crowkit and lastly Batkit. While not his, he loved them very dearly. Should the clan had asked, Larksong knew his place, and he knew the place those kits would stand as they got older.
But then why did his heart break when Rock-kit, newly named Rockpaw, died from an adder bite, and he could not save him. The next leaf-bare his mentor passed on from green cough in the dead of the night. It was tragic, but it was something she had grown used to and with a straight face he helped bury his beloved mentor - a mother to him. Thus he began to work hard, it was not long before he met the future, lost Badgerstar, and his trust in the old warrior came with a few questions; one he dare not voice in fear of being kicked out. But it was when Badgerstar did not name a deputy that Larksong grew worried more-so. But while it was his time to worry about what Starclan may do, he received more lose from his family. Crowkit and Dappledkit - now Dappledpelt and Crowclaw both passed away from ingesting Death Berries. Those two had never listed to Larksong's herb lessons, and had eaten the wrong berries. But the worst was when Brambleflower closed her eyes forever. Larksong watched, sorrow leaking from his pelt as the love of his life whispered; 'Don't keep me waiting Larksong.'
Not even four moons later, Batkit - now Batpelt and Lilykit - now Lilystep, announced they both had mates of their own. Larksong was happy for his adopted kits, and when Lilystep became pregnant with kits and birthed three little ones; he was over joyed.
Thus we come full circle.

[/div]The snow fell in lumps, like large boulders that came hurtling down from the sky and the chill that fell with it made him shiver. The sun should of shown through the clouds, but since the storm had settled over the camp he had felt the coldness in his paws, in his ears and in his pelt. 'Mother, may I go see Mousewhisper?' He meowed, looking over his shoulder to see his mother's sad face. It hurt him somewhere in the depths of his heart.'Just go!'Came the raspy reply from the mother whose heart seemed to have been broken in two. Lark-kit lifted himself to his paws at almost the exact same moment his mother seemed to lift to her paws as well. The mottled color pelt was tangle and matted and Lark-kit looked up with curious and worried eyes. 'Mother are you okay?' He meowed, watching as his mother padded past into the snowy world. Lark-kit followed quickly, paws stumbling as he struggled to remain above the snow.'Just go play Coldkit.'Lark-kit wanted to meow that he was not Coldkit, but his mother had already left. Lark-kit's eyes were wide as he stared off after his mom, before turning tails and padding towards the Medicine Cat's den. He felt his feet began to freeze, the coldness seeping in and that was when he bounced, lifting himself up and jumping to get closer to the den that would offer warmth.
'Mousewhisper!' Lark-kit meowed, the black patches of his fur barely visible, but those striking amber eyes blinked up at the brown colored medicine cat.'Lark-kit, it's freezing out there.'The older she-cat meowed in return before padding forward. Lark-kit could see the older she-cat's thin frame stinking even more, sickness seemed to roll off him and as the medicine cat pulled the kit to her, Lark-kit felt himself being warmed up. He enjoyed the way Mousewhisper seemed to purr in contentment. 'My mother is not alright, what herbs can I get to help her?' Lark-kit's eyes lifted up to meet the blue eyes of the medicine cat whose purr had come to a stop, and a sad expression over Mousewhisper's face.'Nothing can heal a broken heart but time.'Lark-kit listened; thinking and pondering at what that statement could of meant.'Do not ask, I do not understand the meaning either my dear.'
Lark-kit's mouth closed quickly, and he felt a pout slip over his face before sighing and slipping from the comforting tongue. Paws padding forward he slipped into where the herbs were located, grasping the poppy seeds and padding back, grinning as she nestled down get to Buzzardpaw. 'Come on, it's good for you.' He meowed sweetly, and the male apprentice lapped them up.'I'll gather the cat mint as well, could you give some poppy seeds to Kestelwing?' Mousewhisper meowed softly, as Lark-kit nodded, carrying the leaf to wards the elder whose body seemed to shake with every breath. Lark-kit knew the stillness would take her soon.'R-rockp-p-pool... i-i-is tha-that you?'Rasped the old she-cat and Lark-kit shook her head. 'No, it's Lark-kit. I have your poppy seeds.' He meowed.
He'd have to ask Mousewhisper what Rockpool's relation to the elder was. Lark-kit's eyes closed for a moment as the elder swallowed three seeds, and settled into bed.'Don't forget Dapplekit and Crowtooth Lark-kit.'Meowed Mousewhisper whose voice was soft and raspy. Lark-kit turned his head slowly and saw his friend and medicine cat trying to hide the coughs. 'I can give the cats the cat mint Mousewhisper, go rest.' He meowed loudly, giving the poppy seeds to Dapplekit and Crowtooth before padding towards his friend. The Medicine cat looked down at Lark-kit and Lark-kit's bright amber colored eyes blinked up.'Alright, Dapplekit and Kestlewing have to share...'Came the raspy voice followed by coughs that seemed to shake the she-cat. Lark-kit nodded, grasping the cat mint and padding forward, eyes set on Buzzardpaw.
