Warmth. It was all over the sandy clearing, beating down on its edges and, as the day progressed, working its way past the foliage of the enormous tree that bowed over the dusty space. The tree, which was actually an intertwined connection between four different trees, offered an expansive shade upon the clearing under its vibrant green leaves. But during this hot greenleaf season, the dusk seemed to offer no relief from the persistently beating sun.
In the hot beams of sunlight, particles of earth danced in unison, waiting to be pushed to new expanses by a nonexistent breeze. Two narrowed, leafy-green eyes stared into one of the rays, watching the descent of the dust motes. A small cloud hovered over the sun, and for a brief moment the streams of sunlight faded away. The eyes blinked and moved as the huge calico she-cat they belonged to stood up from the shade of the tree. As she stepped out of the shadows, her long fur shined in the light of the sun. Although she was bulky and large, the she-cat was rather beautiful; that was, omitting the scars running along her body, the most prominent of them being the scar above her nose and one stretching over her right eye.
I really, really want to just dig my claws into something right now. Preferably flesh.
A deep growl rumbled in her throat. The heat agitated her; because of her thick coat, she retained heat easily. And, of course, it just had to be greenleaf, her least favorite season (weather-wise). But then again, this she-cat - Mothfrost - was known to always be agitated. Due to this, many cats avoided her, except when they needed her to do something; but usually, she was the one commanding others. And no cat dared disobey her, for Mothfrost was known for her bloodlust. In WildClan, it was said the only time Mothfrost smiled was in battle - which was probably not far from the truth.
Mothfrost sighed, rolling her eyes with displeasure. “Honestly,” she muttered to herself in her grating voice, “I’ve had enough of this heat. It better end soon.” Yet she knew there were still many hot days of greenleaf to come. She stepped forward, barely noticing the way that no one looked at her. She knew of her status - she knew that those other, weaker cats feared her. That didn’t bother her; she liked her time spent alone. But it’s times like these that I kind of wish I had someone to complain to, she thought resentfully.
Her scarred head low, fluffy tail dragging, broad shoulders stiff, and emerald eyes narrowed in frustration, Mothfrost was probably a curiosity. It looked as if she was trying to catch prey, only with a very... peculiar hunting crouch. She groaned. Who cares if they’re looking at me! I just want to die right now from this stupid, crappy heat. A tense sigh escaped her lips and she raised her head. Maybe I’ll go to the forest and hunt. There’s a lot more shade there. And maybe some rogues to bury my fangs in. She licked her lips, already tasting the blood of juicy prey - and enemies.
Just as Mothfrost was about to exit Fourtrees, a thought occurred to her. Maybe it’d be better to bring someone. I hate sharing my kills, but... Her haughty gaze traveled the camp, slowly dragging over the lazy cats that had simply settled in the shade. ...on days like this, where everyone thinks it’s okay to be lazy, it’s my place to tell them it’s not. And with that thought, she turned away from the forest and searched for an unfortunate soul to bring along with her.
