NEW MEMBER'S GUIDE
Welcome to RR! If anything about our lovely little site confuses you, this is the first stop you should make! Of course, staff are here to help you as well, but this thread should cover all of the basics.
NEW TO PROBOARDS V5
Well, we're all new to v5 at the moment - some of us are just newer than others.REGISTERING A NEW ACCOUNT
Registering a new account is pretty simple. If you've ever been on proboards before, you'll probably be able to find the "Register" button right below the banner.
Register1
That should take you to this lovely page where you will need to enter your email address.
Register2
If this is your first time creating a new account on v5, you will be asked to make a Proboards global account. If this isn't your first time going through this process, you'll have to enter your password. Then it will take you to this page, where you will create your username for this account.
Register3
From then on, whenever you go to log in to RR, you'll have to sign in with your email address and password, and then be directed to a page like this one: (yes I know I have way too many characters for just opening the site...)
Register4
Once you are logged into one account, it's pretty easy to create a new account - you don't even have to log out the traditional way. Just click the little icon in the bottom left corner, and it will take you to the image above - which has a nifty little "Create a new account on this forum" option. Ta da!POSTING
Once again, it's probably easy to follow the first step. The "Create Thread" button is right at the top of each board.
Posting1
Here's where things get a little tricky though. If you haven't gone into your account settings (clicking "Profile" then "Edit Account" and then the "Settings" tab) to choose how you want to post, the default form they will put you in will be "Preview." I (Tetris) personally find "BBCode" to be far easier when trying to format a post, and have set the default on all of my accounts to that. To change which form you are using, you just need to click back and forth between the little tabs at the bottom of the posting form.
Posting2
You may also notice that there is no separate button to officially preview your post - at least, not how you would have done it in proboards v4. If you are typing your post in the "Preview" tab though, that's how your post will look once you hit "Create Thread." For those who write in the "BBCode" tab, you can click "Preview" to check that out, then click back to "BBCode" to continue typing.
Note: While all of the codes you are used to from v4 do work, you may notice when you edit your post or toggle back to the code view that v5 automatically changes some of your codes. For example:
[center][/center]
becomes
[div align="center"][/div]
If you ever have any issues with coding that you can't figure out, PM Tetris for help!NEW TO RUMBLEROAR
First, you should read the rules - however, if you're reading guides like this one, you've probably already done that, or are at least on the right track.
Then the likely next step is making a character. For those that would like a little extra help with that process, please check out our APP GUIDE for plenty of resources and general information. Or, if you're looking for a little inspiration for a character, you can check out the ADOPTIONS board, where members can post up character requests.
Once you have finished your application and had it approved by staff, you will need to post in both the NAME CLAIM and MEMBERS LIST.
And if you haven't done so yet, make sure to introduce yourself in the cbox! It's the best place to get to know your fellow rpers, have some fun, and create interesting (perhaps a bit convoluted) plots.
Of course, you can also check out the PLOT BOARD to do all that with a little more organization, or run over to the OPEN THREADS LIST to throw your newly-made characters into action.
