[RULES 01] || [RULES 02] || [RULES 03]
Yes, yes, the rules. We all hate reading them but a site couldn't exist without them. And I know these are long, but it's better to have things lined up and explained than to have someone get in trouble for accidentally breaking a vague rule. Basically: use your common sense for most of these, and you'll be fine.
Staff reserve the right to change or add to these rules at any time. (We will PM you if there is a change.)
OOC RULES
ACCOUNTS AND ACTIVITY
- One character per account; you can register with any username you want, but remember to change the display name to your character’s name. Staff will have OOC accounts you should PM with any problems or questions.
- No limit on the amount of characters you have – as long as you keep them active.
- “Active” means posting at least a few times a month. There isn’t an activity requirement here, but if you miss an activity check and do not post a missing note, your account(s) will be deleted so we can keep the site organized.
- If you are going to be away for any significant length of time, post a missing note. This excuses you from activity checks during that time and keeps your fellow RPers in the know.
- Signatures cannot be bigger than 500x500 (combined), and icons cannot be bigger than 100x100 – this is to keep people from stretching the board. Staff will remove your graphics if they exceed these limits.
POSTING
- 100 wordcount minimum. Quality is more important than quantity but please make sure you give the person you're threading with something to work off of.
- Post in third person POV. We have nothing against other POVs, but we need to keep things consistent.
- No IC posts in OOC threads, and no OOC posts in IC threads. For example: if someone has an open thread but someone else has already replied and you want to know if they're up for a three-person thread, PM both other characters, don't post there asking.
- You can have as many threads with your characters as you want to, just keep them organized. There are two important things to remember here: 1) don’t make people wait obscene amounts of time, and 2) don’t bother other people for posts. We all have lives and need to understand that.
- Open Threads: (Adding this because of Tetris' personal pet peeves, and because of the consensus about it in the cbox.) When someone posts in "open thread" it is generally expected that one other person will post in reply - after that, the thread is no longer "open." Some people will change the thread title to say "closed," while others will not. Please, do not post in an open thread that has already been responded to without asking both other RPers involved. An exception to this rule is if the first poster specifically states that the thread will be open to more than one member (ex: "open to any/all apprentices").
APPS
- Applications must be filled out to the best of your ability for each character. We understand that sometimes you have the perfect idea in your head and can’t get the words out to describe them right (and sometimes you just want to be lazy on the apps), but we want to know your characters as well as you do. Help us do that.
- Do not bug staff about your applications. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. We will try to get to apps within a timely manner – say 1 to 3 days. Sometimes we’re on right when you post it and can look it over right away; sometimes we’re busy with work/school/lives/etc. and will take a while. If we ask you to change something about your app, please post when you edit it to let us know – otherwise we might assume you haven’t seen out post/edited your own, and won’t give the app another look.
- On a similar note: do not argue with staff members about your application. If we ask you to change something, change it. We’re not trying to be mean – we’re trying to make this site as cohesive and fun as possible. For example: Tetris will likely comment on your character regardless of whether or not she accepts it – with some small critique or suggestion that will hopefully help you improve your character.
- Please read all character information on the site before working on and posting your app. The clan works slightly differently on this site (with a different way of handling the territory, a slightly modified warrior code, and even an additional rank and changes to how some ranks work).
OVERALL
- Respect all members. No if's, and's, or but's about it.
- No powerplaying (playing another person’s character without their consent) or god-moding (giving your character all-powerful “god”-like characteristics). Please. The only possible exemption from this is during a fight: if you and your fellow rper agree, you can claim an attack hits/does certain damage/etc. as long as you are willing to change your post if the other person doesn’t like how it ended up.
- No OOC drama. PM about it or go to a staff member if you have any issues. If you honestly can't stand someone, don't involve yourself with them - and if you must thread for plot reasons, then keep it polite.
- No plagiarism of any kind will be tolerated.
- Keep chatspeak and swearing to a minimum. "Lol," "brb," etc. are fine, but no "u" or "l8tr" or anything like that; and you can swear, but just remember that we can have people as young as 13 on proboards.
- Similar to the swearing part above, proboards is PG13, so nothing overly graphic, etc.etc. Just be appropriate.
- No advertising anywhere but the advertising board. This includes the cbox. You can vaguely mention another site, if you're working on a post somewhere else, but no names and no links (not even in the email/url space). Note: your can link to resource sites such as Caution 2.0, as long as you're not linking to an advertisement there. We all love to share templates and graphics we dig up, don't we?
- This is a place to have fun! Don't badger people for posts, and don't come in here ranting and raving or throwing a pity party. It's not that we don't care, but there are a lot of people who RP to get away from stress, and that certainly doesn't help.
